The Aplomb concrete collection has been enriched by a new bigger version.
Aplomb Large is a logic continuation of small Aplomb’s created six years ago.
The design feature is not changed: a concrete lamp suspended by a self-supporting cable which is extremely tight thanks to its own weight. Compared to the first Aplomb the main difference are the proportions. We shaped it more flat and wide in order to illuminate a whole table by itself or, adding others two or three, wider surfaces. This is possible because we have customized a new and powerful LED board. The horizontal shape allows to appreciate the rough material of the plate also being seated and became suitable to install also where the ceiling are quite low.
Aplomb lamp (Foscarini) has been selected by Permanent ADI Observatory among the products nominated to the XXIII Compasso d’Oro prize.
Together with Bahia this product starts off the collaboration with Foscarini. The purpose was to realize a small suspension lamp which could express a self material feature in opposition to impersonal and cold minimalism. We chose the cement because it is poor, very expressive and changeable for its own nature. It took two years approximately to get the right thickness ready in some areas it becomes a real skin – and to find the craftsmen able to do this jump from architecture to design. Despite it’s a semi-manufactured material and not finished, Aplomb easily succeed in introducing itself both in contract and home sectors according to a linear or grouped logic of multiplication. Starting mixture may be grey, white or brown.
