Zanotta, 2015

Shoji is a hybrid object designed for the home; an essential wooden structure framing a fabric and stretching it thanks to a small supporting shelf, creating a textile diaphragm. Shoji, half a partition-element, half a shelf, perfectly fits into the Zanotta tradition made by unique objects with strong personality, often one-of-a-kind objects away from the idea of collection.  Shoji is a wall moving within a domestic space and useable in different ways: as simple screen to achieve some intimate atmosphere (taking advantage of the sound absorbent property of the fabric), as a colored surface contrasting the home furnishing or as a small desk to be set anywhere.  Abstract appearance with a few essential lines, Shoji can easily change its look depending on the fabric color used, therefore it can appear minimal or figurative.
