MOLAS

Prototype, 2013

Molas is a prototype that came out of a personal research of the studio on a new kind of opening system for a sideboard. It is inspired by the typical and colorful fabric decorations of Panamanian women. The work of the studio has been focused on an analogical solution, to completely change the idea of common sideboard;  each door is made of small elements held together by long metal rods and finished with aniline colors which create a sort of solid wooden curtain. The final result is a vertical graphic pattern, solid and empty spaces mixed together, a sort of non-stop wooden tapestry when the doors are closed.
